Have you been considering complete facial rejuvenation? An individual’s identity is often primarily determined by the face. The men and women of Desert Mountain Plastic Surgeons know that a youthful appearance can enhance one’s natural beauty and appearance. A facelift may be just what you need, as it can set back the clock of age, improving the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin of your face and neck. Seasonal changes and harsh weather elements in Arizona can also take a drastic toll on the skin, whereas, a facelift can improve the skin, smooth out deep cheekfolds, jowls and loose, sagging skin around the neck that is often associated with age.
Dr. Creech utilizes a special facelift technique that is definitely more than skin deep. It is called a subperiosteal lift. Conventional facelifts involve lifting part of the skin and raising it upward with a lateral pull to improve the midface and nasolabial folds. Dr. Creech actually detaches and lifts the muscle and soft tissue off the bone for a higher lift to correct the hollowness often present in the mid portion of the face. “I lift the cheek fat up to the orbital rim, which usually transmits some improvement to the jowl area. The downward descent of the face is reversed and restored to a youthful, natural position.” There is little chance for that dreaded “wind tunnel” look. For younger patients, who are not ready for a facelift,Dr. Creech recommends a cheek lift where the incision is done through the lower eyelid. Along with correcting the hollowness in the upper midface, the puff from the lower eyes is moved down to the tear trough area to restore fullness.
Although a facelift will improve and enhance the contour of your face and jawline, it will not correct Arizona’s sun damage or fine wrinkles that have developed on the skin’s surface. To treat these conditions, additional skin care may be needed, which is available at Brëathe Medical Aesthetics, located in our office. This can be discussed during your initial consultation.
In preparation for facelift surgery, you will need to abstain from smoking prior to the procedure and during the recovery period in order to avoid complications. Also, consumption of aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs prior to facelift surgery is not recommended, since these drugs are blood thinners, and may lead to increased bleeding during the course of the facelift. A facelift can be done alone, or in conjunction with other facial procedures such as a browlift, eyelid lift, or nose reshaping.
